A Public Lecture and Book Signing by Matthew Fox
Return of the Sacred Masculine

with an Introduction by Aaron Stern, Academy founder

The Goddess has been returning to Western consciousness for decades through the women’s movement, Goddess rediscoveries, and more. It is time to resurrect the “sacred masculine” as well so that the Goddess may have a proper consort.

Sadly, much of what passes for masculinity in our culture and religion is anything but sacred. It is toxic, and this toxicity affects not only men but also women in their roles as mothers, sisters, spouses, and human beings. This lecture, based on Matthew Fox’s new book, The Hidden Spirituality of Men will explore ancient archetypes of the sacred masculine including Father Sky, the Green Man, the Spiritual Warrior, Hunter-Gatherer, the Fatherly Heart, the Grandfatherly Heart (eldership), and more. Academy Founder, Aaron Stern, will add to the presentation his views about the implications of these teachings for education.

Aaron Stern is the Executive Director and founder of the Academy, serves as President of the Board, and is a member of the Core Faculty. He designed the core curriculum, which is at the heart of all Academy programs, and directs its facilitation team. He is a composer, performer, educator and former dean of the American Conservatory of Music. He consults with educational, arts, spiritual and social-change organizations and communities, worldwide. He is also trained and certified as a transpersonal therapist.

Matthew Fox, Theological scholar and author, is the Academy’s first Scholar in Residence. Matthew took on his new role in August 2007 and will participate in the development of several of our new programs. He will become a founding member of the Academy’s Council of Elders.
