A collaborative project between Santa Fe Art Institute, City of Santa Fe Arts Commission, and the Academy for the Love of Learning

Fall 2008

These images and stories represent a group of extraordinary young people who live, work, go to school, and dream here in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Their lives are a continuing journey, for some it has been a crossing from one country to another, and for others a path of self-discovery. Some call this place home while others are still searching for where they belong.

This work was created in the Summer Intensive that was held at the Santa Fe Art Institute. The images can be seen on the city buses and their audio stories can be accessed by phone or online.

October was the opening of the student's art work at the Santa Fe Art Institute:

 

Twelve high school students from Charter School 37 took part in a summer art workshop
by the Academy and The Santa Fe Art Institute. The students had an opening
in the Art Institute on October 4th. Some work being displayed outside the Art Institute

Seven buses have the students' work displayed. Part of a city wide traveling
exhibition of their works. The program, El Otro Lado helps give voice to people
unheard in our community.
