Women's and Children's Group
Over the past nine months I have had the pleasure to meet and work with many culturally diverse people who live, work, go to school and dream here in Santa Fe. They have included youth, elders, mothers, children and extraordinary individuals. They committed themselves to this project by actively keeping journals to record their passage from one side to another. With images, text and voice they speak for all who will make their own crossing. They have allowed me to enter their worlds and have shared their struggles and joys, their courage and despair, their hopes and dreams, and they have opened me to a new and dynamic Santa Fe. The images, text and audio have been transformed into compositions to represent the essence of each individual participant. Their voices can be heard in situ by simply using cell phone access or along with the images represented on this page. El Otro Lado will continue to add journey stories, which will be part of a large public installation that will be placed in locations around Santa Fe in spring of 2009 and then move to the new Academy building. The following images and audio were developed as part of the Women’s group. ~ Chrissie Orr, Project Director
